About
Maelor Hughes is an independent Solo Singer/Songwriter based in Accrington, Lancashire. He delivers an energetic twist on traditional folk blending melodic riffs with upbeat folk.
Having been in bands for the last 15 years, Maelor decided it was time to hit the road alone. Since starting his solo career Maelor has enjoyed playing alongside or supporting The Levellers, seth lakeman, will varley, The Wonder stuff, Dan Donnelly, Ocean Colour Scene, The south, ian prowse, Dreadzone, Merry Hell, 3 Daft Monkeys, Reverend and The Makers, Ferocious Dog, Gaz Brookfield, Troubadour, Young Rebel Set, Bez – Happy Mondays, Panjenix, Bo Weavil amongst many others…

Elation
Maelor and his wife Chantelle did the most stunning cover of the Levellers’ track “Elation” for the charity album “Bostin’ Days”. This album was released to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance.
Music
Maelor’s song writing is varied and interesting; he’s very hard to categorise. Folk with great classical / Spanish guitar influences underneath, the introduction to Maybe Over Time is very Segovian.
The haunting melodies of Morning Sun tell of his emotions when touring and missing his young son. These contrast with ‘Milltown Boy’ which is an upbeat anthem to his home town.
Clearly luck plays a big part in who becomes famous and who doesn’t as Maelor has everything Ed Sheeran has, and much more…
except the radio and T.V. play…
…and possibly the bank balance.
